Worship: Withered to Watered

What is worship?
Where would I be without Gospel music?
Listening to it is when I feel the Lord closest to me.
It’s those moments during worship at church or moments of stillness in my bedroom with Gospel music in the background, is where I have felt the Lord reveal Himself to me many, many times.
Sometimes it feels like He’s giving me a big hug.
And in my seasons where I feel far from Christ, it typically correlates with my distance from worshiping Him and His name.
But what exactly is worship?
Is it just a form of singing and dancing for the Lord?
Merriam-Webster Dictionary had 2 definitions that stood out to me:
- “to honor or show reverence for as a divine being or supernatural power.”
- “Extravagant respect or admiration for or devotion to an object of esteem.”
Wow. 2 VERY different forms of worship.
One clearly states honoring a supernatural power. The other states devotion to an object and the example Merriam-Webster gave was “worship of a dollar.”
I could go on for days about the topic of worshiping materialistic objects and money but, we will lay that topic to rest and focus on the first definition.
“To honor and show reverence for as a divine being or supernatural power.”
Wow. Supernatural power.
It says nothing about music or dancing.
To me, worship is the genuine desire in your heart to express your need for something.
I need the Lord. It’s simple. I cannot live my life without Him.
The title “Worship: Withered to Watered” is my testimony.
It truly took His supernatural power to redirect me and my life to Him.
He is the only one that could have ever softened my heart enough to even feel a glimmer of the hope, love, and peace He provides.
When I’m worshiping Him, it’s almost an inexplicable lightness that is felt in my heart and soul.
When I’m worshiping Him, I heavily desire to give/show Him the honor and deep, intense respect He so deserves.
Respect and awe that ONLY He should receive.
I’m no longer withered. I am watered.
“With joy you will draw from the wells of salvation.”
- Isaiah 12:3
“For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.”
- Isaiah 44:3
“You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.”
- Psalm 63:1
I am watered by the Holy Spirit, earnestly seeking and desiring Your wells of salvation and You, the bread of life, even in a land of famine and drought.
My whole being belongs to You, Jesus.❤️
Wholeheartedly worshiping your divine, omnipotent and omnipresent power.
Forever and ever, until I’m bowing down, worshiping before you in Heaven.
