Who, What, and Why Reflecting His Heart?

By striving to reflect the heart of Jesus to all we encounter, we exist to show that a life with Jesus is a life worth living.
Who, What, and Why Reflecting His Heart?

Summer of 2021: Creation of Reflecting His Heart

I remember sitting in Jacob Jeffcoat’s house as a 23-year-old, on his couch, scrolling through my phone, thinking of names for a non-profit. I knew I was moving to Haiti to be a missionary, and I felt called to start an organization that would help me take the Gospel to those who needed it most.

I found three or four names that I really liked and texted them over to my older brother, Jason.

His response: “I really like Reflecting His Heart—it can even be said as RH2.” In that very moment, Reflecting His Heart was formed. Yet, I had no clue what God had in store.

I simply knew one thing: I wanted everyone I encountered to know that Jesus gave His life for them and that through His life, we have the blessing of eternal life if we come to know Him as Lord and Savior.

✈️ January 13th, 2022: Boots Hit the Ground in Santiago, Dominican Republic

A moment my heart was ready to jump out of my chest, there was no going back.

During the five months of preparation, I was hit with tough news: I could no longer go to Haiti. No American staff was allowed on the ground in Haiti.

I had quit my job.
I had formed Reflecting His Heart.
I had started raising money.
Yet, I couldn’t move to the country I felt so burdened for.
However, God was still at work.

Jamey Davis (a fellow brother and now co-laborer in Christ), whom I had met on my last mission trip to Haiti, called me and gave me the opportunity to share my heart and frustrations with him.

At the end of our call, he said something along the lines of:

“My family and I are moving to Santiago, Dominican Republic, from Haiti. You speak Spanish and you're a former baseball player—why don’t you come and serve with us?”

On January 13th, 2022, I was on a plane headed to Santiago, Dominican Republic, to share the Gospel in a country I had never visited and to serve with a family I had only spent one week with during a short-term mission trip.

When my boots hit the ground, I was received by the Davis family and others in the community with open hearts. They helped move me into the church I would be living in, and they made me feel welcomed. That first night, when I laid my head down, I knew I was exactly where God wanted me to be.

Still, I had no clue how He would use Reflecting His Heart—or my life—to bring glory and honor to His name.

✈️ May 21st, 2024: One becomes Two

Moving to Santiago, Dominican Republic to chase after Jesus together as ONE.

Fast forward to 2024, and by the grace of God alone, I was still serving Him in Santiago, Dominican Republic, alongside Jamey and his family. As for Reflecting His Heart, our team with boots on the ground was still just one, me.

That all changed when I married my best friend, Morgan Elicier. We moved down together on May 21st, 2024, to continue the mission: sharing and reflecting the heart of Jesus to every single person God placed before us.

"I" became "We".

Through the Gospel, we believed that true change could take place in the hearts of the Dominican and Haitian people we encountered. But just like the two years before, God would have to lead the way.

May 5th, 2025: A Year of the Lord Doing the "Impossible"

3 STUDENT VISAS IN HAND! These three special ladies, Youseline, Fredeleine, and Fredeline are currently in the United States studying at Tennessee Wesleyan University.

One year married. One year serving those the Lord leads us to. One year unapologetically chasing the calling God gave us, together.

The only words we can think of to describe this past year are in awe.

We are in pure awe of how the Lord has moved. From Him leading us to help three Haitian sisters receive student visas to attend college in the United States, to pouring the Gospel into the hearts of 25 Haitian women and children each week, to serving 35 kids every Sunday at our local church, Iglesia Bautista Rompe Barreras, to forming real, intentional relationships with the people of this island, God has been so faithful!

No matter what each day looks like, we’ve committed to walking in step with the Holy Spirit, stepping into whatever God has for us and His people. We’ve been challenged not to doubt His abilities or question His plans. He is SO much greater than anything we could ever ask or imagine.

So, what’s next for Reflecting His Heart?

Only the Lord knows. But our promise and our vision as RH2 is to prayerfully see a future where the island of Hispaniola is liberated and united through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is our only hope, and we pray that every heart comes to know exactly what that means.
