Five Months, Three Miracles: A Story of Radical Faith
Outside the U.S. Embassy after Fredeleine received the final YES! December 3rd, 2024

One Year Since the Lord Said ‘Yes’

Today marks one year since I watched the Lord move in the most radical way I have ever seen with my own eyes.

Fredeline, Fredeleine, and Youseline had officially received their “YES” at the U.S. Embassy, and they were headed to the United States with F1 student visas.

A whole year later, I think I’m still processing just every single detail and obstacle the Lord worked out– step by step, paperwork after paperwork, prayer by prayer.

The Lord’s presence was SO evident during their entire process, you could not doubt for one second that His hand wasn’t over their life.

Quick Timeline

Early last year we met the sisters for the first time in Santiago.

August 5th: The girls get accepted into Tennessee Wesleyan University.

HUGE shout out to The Goins family who worked incredibly hard during this entire process. They spearheaded everything stateside from meeting with TWU staff, getting any U.S. paperwork needed and reaching out to any connection they had (including government officials)!

August 25th: They move in with me and JonJon.

As soon as they moved in, we began the paperwork process of the student visa application.

December 19th, 2024 the girls were headed to the states, a student visa in hand and with more than $100,000 raised to pay for their schooling.

Nearly 5 months. That’s it. The Lord did it & He did it in abundance.

Moments after the final 'yes'

I often write in my Notes app to capture what I’m feeling in certain moments.
Here are some of my words, days after each sister received their 'yes'.

December 12th, 2024 at 10:44am

"4 trips to the capital, 1 “Yes” in the first interview, 2 “not yets” in the first interview, 1 full “Yes” after the second interview, 1 sister placed in administrative processing after the second interview, then in His timing, the sisters received 3 FULL “Yes”! There were endless prayers, numerous tears, hugs, and verbally saying “The Lord has His hand over this”.

When Youzy received her “half-yes” (she was placed in administrative processing) I’ll never forget the moment of sprinting to her with Fredeline, screaming so loud I’m sure all of Santo Domingo could hear us. JJ and Fredeleine were at another Embassy office getting the paperwork needed for her interview the next day. The officer had taken Youzy's passport which was a great sign. It showed that the Embassy wanted to say yes, they just needed one more document. We sent that document in QUICKLY.

The next day, Fredeleine received her full “Yes”. This time, the entire group (Me, JJ, Fredeleine, Fredeline and Youzy) all screamed so loud outside of the Embassy, all of the Dominican Republic could hear us.

After Fredeleine’s interview, we made our way to the car and we all just sat in silence and then we prayed. Tears streaming down all of our faces as we shouted our praises to the King of Kings. Even though in that exact moment Youzy still hadn’t received the full “yes”, we knew the Lord was in it. And sure enough, He really did it. The girls are going to the USA.

I have been so convicted through this process and have learned an immense amount from these amazing sisters. God’s timing is significantly greater than mine. I encourage you to NEVER let your mind waver from His goodness and faithfulness. Doubting Him shows a major lack of faith and I was extremely convicted of this time and time again since August. I was so quick to doubt or question His plan after the Fredeleine and Youzy received their “not yet”.

Find peace that He is in full control. He is sovereign over it ALL. Release your grip, open your hands and watch how He tells their story, your story. What an incredible journey it has been to get here. Lord, I thank you for your Grace, your understanding and your forgiveness. You are a good good Father at all times. I will cherish these memories and lessons for the rest of my life."

Flight to USA

I also wrote one while we were on the plane with the sisters headed to Tennessee.

December 19th, 2024 at 5:08pm.

“I’m sitting on the plane in Santiago. Youseline is next to me across the aisle, Fredeline is in the middle seat and Fredeleine got the window. We are headed to Miami. I can’t believe it 🥺 I cannot believe that I, Morgan Elicier, get to witness such a life changing experience. I’m in tears just sitting here, waiting for the plane to hit the runway. Lord, thank you. Thank you for choosing me to be a part of this. Me and the sisters would have never met, our stories would’ve never intertwined without The Lord making it happen. I would’ve never in a million years guessed that this is where the Lord would have me. On a plane to Tennessee from the DR with 3 Haitian sisters and a whollllle crew and our 17 pieces of luggage 😂 gosh, what a day this is. A generational blessing. Lord, please continue to show immense favor over these sisters. They will do everything for Your glory and I have the utmost confidence in that.

We just took off, you could see the girls were so excited and nervous. They had their phones ready to video. Just moments after take off, Youzy lets out a giggle and says “this is amazing”. What a moment. I am so full of gratitude."

Gratitude. May I forever remember this answered prayer.

Whenever I feel meek, not heard, or distant from the Lord, may I always remember that I am constantly walking through an answered prayer.

14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him." 1 John 5:14-15

I want to challenge you: What answered prayer are you walking in that you’ve simply forgotten you once prayed for?

While writing this blog, I, of course, get emotional looking at this journey with the Freds and Youzy.

Sisters, thank you for changing my life. I will forever be indebted to you guys from all the life lessons you have taught me, wisdom you have poured into me, and what it truly looks like to follow the Lord with unwavering trust and faith.

Goins family and Davis family, isn't it amazing how God has blessed us all to love these girls and to walk with them in this process? That He would invite us to see Him at work throughout this entire journey? May the Glory always be His.

The girls now live with the Goins family and what a HUGE blessing that is. It selfishly helps calm my heart knowing they are with such an incredible Godly family. Thank you Allison and Kevin for all you do day in and day out and everything you have already done!!!

My words will always fall short to truly describe just how radical our Lord was during this and how faithful He still is, at all times.

Don't limit God and see just how HE can move.

Here are a few pictures to capture the beautiful whirlwind it was!
